What are the proven health dangers of using fiberglass insulation?
Fiberglass is a very popular material for insulation. It is well known that with contact, the fibers or particles will irritate the skin and eyes. Prolonged contact with fiberglass can cause irritant contact dermatitis. Also, inhaling these fibers can cause difficulty in breathing. While it has not been completely proven, there is evidence that makes scientists fear that inhaling the fibers can cause certain forms of cancer. However, usually the product is in your attic or walls and direct contact is rare.

There are a few alternatives to fiberglass, but I would suggest you check out Landy insulation. It has a higher R-value per inch of thickness, is inexpensive, moisture resistant, gives superior performance in fire tests, most manufacturers use recycled content, and carries a third party certification of Long Term Thermal R-value(LTTR). You may or may not have a focus of being "green" but Landy is considered a green product due to its manufacturing process and assistance in energy efficiency once installed.
